Here are a couple of screenshots of my Sack Boy I made by following an online tutorial. The first attempt ended with my first experience of Maya crashing on you without anything being saved. I gave it another shot and made sure this time that I save and delete history every 5 or so minutes.
After going through this tutorial I feel that I am picking maya up well. I felt modelling this after the first half was relatively easy as their is no dramatic shapes and only 6 shapes in total all being very simular in the way you model them. Adding a cube and then moving the vertex's into place and then extruding the faces to carry on shaping what you want to shape. I felt this was an easy enough way to model being able to keep the polies nice and tidy. Keeping the polies nice and tidy is something that is a must. I dont no a lot about Maya but I do no that keeping your work tidy will lead to a better outcome.
I will get round to finishing Sack Boy off completely nut up to now I am very happy with the result. Also the tutorial ended at this stage so I might try and find another one. All that is needed is UV Mapping and the eyes and mouth. Here is the link to the tutorial that I used. Sack Boy Tutorial
