Communication

Throughout this film module working in a team has turned out to be really successful. At first I wasn't too sure about it as Iv been so used to working on film projects on my own and working with 3 people who I don't really know that well made me a lot more nervous about working through this module. From the first minute of sitting down with the group I was instantly settled and knew we had a group that would work really well together. Siobhan who was our producer allowed each of us individually to talk about our ideas which then allowed us to bring them all together and come up with a few ideas for our film on the very first day.

My job as the editor of the film meant that I had to communicate well with everyone and not just 1 or 2 people. I had to speak with Rhys a lot as he was shooting the film which meant I needed to direct him in a way to make sure when it comes to editing the shots were right for me. At times Rhys wanted me to shoot parts in which he felt I could do it more successfully for example the scene where the actors are froze and I pan around them. I knew what I wanted out of this shot so Rhys told me to shoot it myself.

I had to communicate with Lija a lot aswel as she was on the storyboard and the storyboard is basically an edit on paper and as I already had an idea about the style in which I wanted to have the edit, me and Lija was able to talk about shot types, transitions etc.

Having Siobhan their with me when editing really helped aswel as she was very honest and when thought something didn't look right or didn't flow correctly she would tell me and we would then talk about what I could do instead. As it was my first short film that I had worked on, I needed to be able to communicate with Siobhan and the other two. Receiving feedback from them was vital as I dont think we would have had such a successful film without having each of them giving me their opinions on my work and giving ideas to what maybe should be in place instead.
