Here is the model I have selected to model for the OUDF405 module. I wanted to to something very simple but at the same time something I can something with which will look effective when it comes to animating. Before this module, I didn't have a clue about Maya so I worried myself about not doing very well. So choosing this very simple model gave me a chance of getting a successful outcome
Below is my model that I have created in Maya. Again it was a pretty simple task because as you can see we have a sphere and couple of cylinders which just leaves us with 3 shapes to create. The feet were a bit of a challenge but after doing a couple of the youtube tutorials I had to knowledge of being able to shape the foot correctly by adding edge loops and moving the vertices around into place. The arms were probably the hardest I have to do on the model. At first I tried to just get a cylinder shape and use the bend tool to bend in two directions which were the bend coming out the body and the bend which would be his forearm area. I came across a few problems when trying this as I wasn't 100% confident about using the tool in the first place. I decided to deform the shape of the arm manually by creating a cylinder but then adding multiple edge loops and then from the side and front view, select the opposite vertices and move them gradually a bit further away from the original point as you move down the edge loops I created. For the hands I used the same technique as I did for the arms and they also came out successful.
The next stage is colour for me and then adding the facial features and then the pattern on the jacket
