Basics of Character Design

I came across this video on youtube and found that it covered a lot you should think about when designing characters and also how to make it easier to start designing characters, for example basing them on someone you know, their characteristics, their moods etc. Also looking at stereotypes is a good example of how to get started with designing. Is he or she a cool kid, or is he/she a bit of a geek, so you would then look at what sort of clothes would they be wearing or how would they walk around. For someone who is starting off I think this video would be very useful
