Relentless Ride to Glory 2010
With Digital Film Production just around the corner, watching pieces of film like Relentless Ride to Glory by one of UK's number one BMX film maker Matty Lambert, really inspires me to push myself in this film module and create what I I know I can create.
This film by Matty Lambert is what Extreme Sports film making is all about. A lot of BMX videos you see, the piece of music that we hear over the top doesn't quite match to the video. I do think sound Is key to a successful video, not just in BMX but nearly every type of film. Matty Lambert nails the song choices in my opinion, the timing is spot on and I love how the change of tempo in the song corresponds to whats on screen. At times the music is unnoticeable due to how Matty captures these 'Phat' riders doing their tricks.
The shot selection and actual cinematography is brilliant. The glidecam really makes a difference by giving it a more professional look with not having the camera shaking everywhere. He uses slow-mo really well throughout and also the scene on the half-pipe, the simple lighting setup gives a great effect and probably the first time iv seen it in a BMX video which is why it stands out to me. Overall for the equipment he used to make this video, it defiantly gives you the wow factor and made me research into more of his work.
